Discover Lithuania’s path to independence on this powerful walking tour. Beginning at Lukiškės Square, a symbolic site of oppression and remembrance, you’ll pass Lukiškės Prison — once a tsarist jail and later used by Soviet authorities.
The journey continues to the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania, the Lithuanian Parliament and a symbol of restored democracy during the dramatic January Events of 1991.
The tour concludes at the Museum of Occupations and Freedom Fights (KGB Museum), formerly the headquarters of the Soviet secret police. Inside, you’ll explore former interrogation cells and learn the personal stories of those who resisted. After the guided portion, you are welcome to continue exploring the museum independently.
