Immerse yourself in a time of national resistance and Lithuanian people‘s urge for independence. This tour invites you to see places in Vilnius which will lead you through the Soviet era in Lithuania.
In spite of the Soviet times being a thing of the past, some „pearls“ of concrete Soviet architecture still remain. During the provoking and informative tour with a local guide you will find out how Lithuanians lived in the Soviet era.
You will see places like Vilnius Palace of Concerts and Sports, the TV Tower , Vilnius Palace of Culture, Entertainment and Sports and much more.
Vilnius Palace of Concerts and Sports is located on the site of Piramont cemetery, the oldest Jewish cemetery in Vilnius, which dates back to fifteenth century. It was not only one of the main attraction point in Vilnius, but also a center of the reform movement which led Lithuania to independence.
The Memorial Complex of Tuskulėnai Peace Park reminds visitors of the tragic events in the history of Lithuania in the 20th century. By 1980, Vilnius Palace of Culture, Entertainment and sports became an unique soviet architectural building where the most famous artists of Lithuania were exhibiting their artwork. The TV Tower of Vilnius is the highest building in Lithuania, one of Vilnius main attraction points and a symbol of Lithuanian independence and resistance against the Soviet regime. In the tour you can enjoy the panoramic view from the restaurant at the top of the tower. Visit the KGB Museum during the tour.
